Katie Cooley Ph.D. (c), NBC-HWC, E-RYT

Katie is a graduate of the Saybrook University College of Integrative Medicine and Health Science (MS, Mindbody Medicine, Integrative Wellness Coaching) and the University of New Hampshire (BA, English). She is a board-certified health coach with the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaches and has over 800 hours of advanced yoga training. She also studied Somatic Yoga and trained as a Somatic Educator with Eleanor Criswell. Katie’s first experience in mind-body medicine was as an athlete. During her seven years on the US National rowing team, she competed internationally and, among other honors, won the World Championships in 1995. Her dissertation research is on how somatic approaches to yoga can be used in tandem with cognitive therapies to aid in the recovery of certain mental health conditions.

A native of Fairfield, CT, Katie has been a health advocate for thousands of people throughout her 20-plus-year career as a somatic educator, an integrative health coach, and a mind-body instructor. Her theoretical background incorporates embodiment theories, feminist theories, phenomenology, and a somatic perspective. Her personal practices have included alternative healing practices, Hanna Somatics, ecstatic dance, yoga, Feldenkrais, Rolfing, breathwork, fitness, and Shamanism. She is studying with Abbie Galvin and getting certified in Katonah yoga.

Now a permanent transplant to the Northwest, she works with clients in-person and through telemedicine while serving as adjunct faculty with Saybrook University. As a lifelong learner and wellness practitioner, Katie integrates her wellness practices daily. She enjoys gardening in her overgrown yard, mountain biking, and getting out in nature with her family as much as possible.
